Leïla Mailly
Performer in contemporary dance
Leïla

After ten years of school training, in contemporary dance, Leïla finished her pre-professional training in interpretation at « l'Ecole de Danse Contemporaine de Montréal », in May 2016.

Directly after, she participated in the professional integration project "Fly" of the EDCM, with the choreographer Victoria Mackenzie. Moreover, she began working with the choreographer Catherine Gaudet. In September 2018, the young artist made her entrace on the professional scene in L'affadissement du merveilleux, presented at l'Agora de la danse of Montreal (Canada).

Since then, Leïla had the pleasure of taking part in the revival of Au sein des plus raides vertus by Catherine Gaudet, in the role of Annik Hamel. She also began working for the company Fleuve-Espace-Danse, in Projet 12 and Prendre le Nord; for Alexandre Morin in the revival of his role in BREACH and for Daniel Léveillé Danse in the revival of his piece Solitude Duo, in the role of Ellen Furey.

This last year, Leïla finished the program at « L'Institut International de Gymnastique Holistique » (IIGH), a method of somatic education. She graduated in December 2020.

Determined to develop the evolving interpreter she is, Leïla likes to dive in the various challenges of interpretation in order to reinvent herself by embodying body and mind states full of new perspectives, considerations for oneself, others, and the environment. The human and the artist are closely linked. She loves the idea of exploring the subtleties of a sensitive imaginary, which, in her eyes, allows to link her art to the World, in a seek of harmony and poetry.

In this sense, she is particularly in love with states bodywork, and the universe of somatic education. She likes to collaborate with people of heart, whose artistic approach offers her the opportunity as an artist to revisit facets of her unusual prisms. These collaborations allow her to grow humanely but also as an artist.

Lately, Leïla participated for the next creation of the company Catherine Gaudet, in the research period, before she moved to France in January 2021. In parallel, she's starting to teach la Gymnastique Holistique.
